Week of WWE Wrestling: 11/28/2009 to 12/05/2009
Once again…Monday Night Wars!
We heard this past weekend on Spike TV that Hogan, Bischoff, and TNA will be taking on the WWE on Monday, January 4th, 2010 when both brands will go three hours, starting at 7pm Central!
What are my thoughts on this? For one night only, this is pretty huge, and with this, I do hope that the wrestling war comes back, because WWE needs competition and TNA needs to step up a notch.
This may seem weird that I am talking about TNA, because I am normally the WWE guy, but I am excited to know that WWE finally has some competition, even if it’s for a month. WWE has been slacking and I think WWE has been on a downward spiral since 2001 when WCW and ECW were bought out by McMahon.
One of the wrestling podcasts I listen to, the Ministry of Slam, from the U.K., were talking about from their show last night was the following question: when Hogan is on TNA on January the 4th, who should be Raw’s guest host? For wrestling fans these days, it would be huge for if the Rock or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is the guest host that night in January, but for me, for old-school fans like myself that remembers the first Monday Night War, I feel that the best guest host, to go against “Hollywood” Hulkster will be either Bret “the Hitman” Hart or Randy “Macho King” Savage!
Why Bret “the Hitman” Hart? Hogan represented the face of WCW when he joined them while Hart was the face of the WWE from right around the time Hogan was leaving the WWF in 1993 to 1997 when he left at the Survivor Series. So what better night would bringing Bret Hart in as guest host for one night than when the start of the second Monday Night War (or “MNW II,” so-to-say). For me, that would be huge, and I as an old-school wrestling fan, I would be in wrestling heaven if this would happen. It would be hard for me to keep it on one show over the other, if it is Hart and Monday Night Raw against Hogan and TNA Impact.
But this is simply a matter of opinion, and my opinion. But that’s the biggest news story of the past week. Hope you guys didn’t get slammed with this week’s WWE news.
